3D Printing Face Shields For COVID-19 First Responders

Kitchen Armor has joined in the effort to manufacture PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) by 3D printing face masks for southern California’s COVID-19 front line medical personnel.

Airwolf 3D is a Southern California-based manufacture of desktop 3D printers and has a large community of product users (including Kitchen Armor). They have committed to remain open and has invited their end users to participate in 3D printing of medical devices and personal protective equipment.

Airwolf 3D has designed a face shield for their 3D printer community to download and easily print using common printing materials. Once printed, a simple assembly can be done using standard 8.5 x 11″ transparencies sheet and elastic bands.

“With our manufacturing for the most part shut down due to covid-19, and seeing the call from Airwolf3d, I started printing these parts to help out our local community. It’s a small contribution, but if everyone pitches in, we can make a big difference.” – Greg Kosin, Kitchen Armor

When completed, Kitchen Armor ships the 3D printed face masks to Airwolf 3D who can disperse them to the necessary first responders. Alternatively, if you have the  capability to make these, you can also deliver them to your local hospitals or clinics.

In addition to the current shields we are manufacturing for first line healthcare workers, we are also exploring ways to work with our restaurant partners to provide them masks for use in the food service environment. As our economy works to open back up, there will be new safety concerns and requirements. We are trying to anticipate and get ahead of this so everyone can be prepared to hit the ground running when the time comes.

We appreciate all the medical and service professionals who put their health and safety on the line for country and local communities. We look forward to continuing and expanding our efforts to help in this uncertain time, and look forward to a bright – and clean future.
